Divine Brown out soon!!!

January 25, 2012

Divine Brown

Brown Ale brewed with Coffee

People say that brewing is the world’s

second-oldest profession; some even say

it’s less dignified than the first, but

that’s only because they haven’t spent

time with Divine Brown.

Made with a prodigious quantity of raw oats

and a gentle touch of dark-roasted coffee,

this boot-knockin’ brown does the trick

every time.

Leather District Block Party

October 19, 2011

Checked out the Leather District Block Party at Work Bar recently with the High & Mighty Crew. I rarely frequent that part of town (neighborhood in Boston near South Station) so it was cool to meet some locals and chat with business owners in the area, while sippin on some fresh High & Mighty brews, obvi. Casey from Repeat Offenders kept the music going and some people, um, really let loose. Lets just say there was a dance party forming by the time we left… We had the most fun with a big foam ‘Like’ button. We’re easily amused.

Oh Snap! We got the Magner’s ladies throwin up the fist!

Fumata Nera Out!!!

October 11, 2011

Fumata Nera Smoked Black Rye Beer

Not that long ago, all beer was smoked, but as malting technology improved smoked
beer fell out of favor almost everywhere. But in and around Bamberg, Germany
(in Franconia the northern part of Bavaria), traditional smoked beer lives on,
and, damn, it’s tasty. We’ve modeled our smoked black rye lager after our
favorite examples of the style, which have a delicate smoke flavor, but we’ve
made it our own by adding generous amounts of heavily-roasted malts, and loads
of noble hops.

HIgh & Mighty Debuts at Alewife Beer Garden

October 7, 2011

Friday, September 30, 2011-Beer impresario and long-time Shelton Brothers/High & Mighty colleague Daniel Lanigan held an opening night invitation-only party for his latest project-Alewife. Located in the Island City neighborhood of Queens, New York, the space is a massive, two-story beer hall and restaurant.
Featuring over 25 world-class tap selections (including High & Mighty), an enthusiastic staff, and an eclectic menu, Alewife continues the Lanigan tradition of “Modern Viking” aesthetics-spacious, softly-lit rooms, dark red walls decorated with paintings from local artists, and  massive wooden tables and beams. Alewife promises to be a noisy destination for both beer lovers and neighborhood hipsters starving for a Manhattan-like bar, but the soft opening was just that- cosy, friendly, uncrowded, and conducive to conversation. Many of NYC’s beer luminaries appeared at one point or other, and the only serious issue on this opening night was in choosing the next round.

Leather District Block Party

October 5, 2011

Hey Bostonians, do you know where the Leather District is? Even though I have lived here for what-seems-like-ever, it’s kind of a gray area in my mental map of the city. Apparently, there’s a website for this special district and it even has a definition = A loose juxtaposition of anonymous souls, going about their own business, in a quirky two block radius in downtown Boston.

Intriguing, right? This Thursday come to Work Bar to get a first hand taste (literally) of what the Leather District has to offer.

From the event invite:
The Leather District is BOOMING with business – Some brand new to the area and others that have been in the neighborhood for years! Whether you’re a small businesses or large corporation or a neighbor who calls the LD their home, there’s always an opportunity to connect! Our goal is to bring together the LD companies and residents for food, drinks and FUN! From food to drinks to designs and photo coverage local companies are jumping on board!

High & Mighty will be there pouring up that good stuff, so come say hi, and throw up the fist when you see us, OK?

High & Mighty at the Brew Off Networking Event

September 29, 2011

Hi beer lovers, Khara here, one of High & Mighty’s resident bloggers.  Bookmark this spot now, because you’ll want to check back for updates on sweet beer events,  insider industry news, happenings with High & Mighty and more.

Kicking off the first -official- High & Mighty blog post, here’s a recap of my night at the Brew Off event at Work Bar downtown.

The Brew Off was hosted by Antler, a Digital Marketing Agency in Boston, and invited marketing and ad folks to mingle with local brewers, and even judge a ‘Brands v. Agencies’ Brew Off  contest.  The event took place during FutureM’s marketing conference week, and lent a fresh perspective to a networking event.

I had a great time talking to the brewers (and distillers) and sampling some old faves, and even found some new ones. High & Mighty was holding it down, giving out samples of Two Headed Beast and the summer seasonal, Pas De Dieux. mmmmm

Luke from Antler keeping it real with some High & Mighty, and Antler’s branded brew on the right (which was great!)

Anya from Pretty Things pouring some Baby Tree

This is Mike’s shirt from The Best Beer Blog, sounds like a good description of Two Headed Beast to me!

High & Mighty may have the best beer tap I’ve seen. Throw up the fist!

Bully Boy Distillers was a new discovery for me, a distiller right in downtown Boston, who makes CLEAR whiskey. I’m not kidding, that stuff was fire! Mix it with a little Limonata, a dash of bitters, and you’ve got yourself one grown up lemonade.
